Dear Mr Trivett,

On behalf of the Rev. John S. Lee, Vicar of the Parish, I am writing to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 20th November and for kindly drawing our attention to the errors in George Medley’s "A History of Sidbury".

As you will doubtless have observed, Mr Medley died in 1980 and it was most unfortunate that his decease occurred before he was able to fully complete his revision, which might have brought to light some of the inaccuracies in addition to those to which you refer.

Please rest assured that, in due course, when a re-print is being considered, the inaccuracies which you have mentioned will be corrected.

It was most kind of you to write. We look forward to welcoming you at St. Giles’ when you next visit East Devon. Should you be able to be here on a Thursday afternoon during the summer months we will be delighted to show you our Saxon Crypt.
