Lady Elizabeth

Section 3.

Regarding the other eleven tombs unmarked, there is a strong possibility that both Sir Thomas Trivett and Sir John Trivett are buried there. It is written to the effect that the Black Prince wished to be buried in The Crypt at Canterbury along with his friends and fellow Men at Arms, but unfortunately after his death the higher authority didn't think it was a prominent enough place for the "Black Prince" and so he was buried upstairs in the main body of the Cathedral. When I visited the Crypt recently and saw Elizabeths' Tomb I found the alabaster figuration of her in very good order but the facia of the sides was bare not as shown in the picture of the steel engraving with arms. This was caused by mis-treatment both in 16thcent and 17th when it was used as a timber fuel store.
