Sweet William for eight
Chorus - a nice flowing one to finish on, sixteen bars.
Tops and bottoms do pinwheel stars clockwise, break into arch rounds on
the sides, 1 and 3, 2 and 4, 5 and 7, 6 and 8, anti-clockwise. Then, make
pinwheel stars clockwise on the sides, and finally break into arch-rounds
anti-clockwise in couples to finish.
Figures
Note the figures are eight-bar figures and that they do not
repeat. This was a public broadcast brought to you on behalf of musicians
everywhere.
Straight Heys:
Danced fast, up and down the sides, odds together and evens together.
Up and Down:
The top four dance down the outside while the bottom four dance up the
inside, everyone casts in singly, and the top four come up the
inside whilst the bottom four go down the outside, to places.
Cross and Rounds:
First corners cross over, then do arch rounds with opposites across the set,
one with three, two with four and so on. Then firsts cross back,
and do arch rounds along the set, with the same person.
Long Crosses:
One crosses with eigtht, two with seven, three with six, four with five,
starting off ass soon as there's a gap in the centre to aim at. From these
inverted places, face down, and cast out and up in lines to original places,
with number one leading that line outside the other line.
