In A/27, there is an extra source (5)TM23, 1945, T (NP/O)
Lower Swell ... old Mr Williams who remembered the Lower Swell side when he was a boy, 70 years
ago. He also related the story of "Nobby" Hathaway, their fool, with his blacked face, who,
seeing a notice hung on a gate "Beware of the Dog" hung this around his own neck, and going on all
fours, seized the dog's bone between his teeth and growling, terrified the dog out of his life...
[my underlining]
Helm A3/2 dates "Swell" material to ca. 1870
