A new set of guidelines on educational provision for children and youngpeople with speech and language impairments, produced by AFASIC and I CAN, will be launched on Wednesday, 17th April at BT Tower in London from 1O.3Oam.
Aimed to be a viable working document for families, professionals, purchasers and providers of educational services, the guidelines cover policy, staffing, further education, assessments and the curriculum. In addition, the role of the family and the child's relationship with his or her peer group is also examined.
"With around 250,000 children in Britain affected by some degree of speech and language impairment, it is essential that an up-to-date and comprehensive set of guidelines for educational provision exists." said Mr Brian Jones, chief executive, I CAN.
