Alpha

St. Andrew's holds a variety of courses to help people explore their spirituality in the context of the Christian faith. These courses include Alpha, Essence, Relay and Journeys. Not all the courses may be running at any particular time, so please contact the Church Office or telephone 01223 232255 if you would like more information.

Alpha courses are held regularly usually in the autumn term. For autumn 2008, we are joining with the course to be held at Histon Methodist Church which will begin with a meal on 25 September. Please contact the Church office if you would like more details.

More to Life?

An Alpha course runs for 10 weeks. Each evening session begins with meal, followed by a speaker or video presentation on an aspect of Christian Basics and then an opportunity to join a discussion group. In the middle of Alpha is a special day away.

The course is ideal for anyone who wants to learn more about the Christian faith and/or anyone who would like to enquire into what Christianity really means. It is also a wonderful opportunity to meet people and make new friends.

There is no charge for the course and no prior knowledge of the Bible is required or assumed. The talks are:

Alpha

Alpha is for:

Anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian faith. People of all ages are welcome.

Learning and laughter. It is possible to learn about the Christian faith and have fun at the same time.

People meeting together. An opportunity to make new friends.

Helping one another. The small groups give you a chance to discuss issues raised during the talks.

Essence

croissants; christianity; conversation
Essence is a daytime course commencing 24 September 2008 and is especially suited to those who would like an open, comfortable and informal space to explore their spirituality and think about the Christian faith. Those with young children are particularly welcome and a fully-staffed crèche will be provided each week. There is no charge for Essence.

The aim of Essence is to provide a space to explore what it means to be spiritual people. Each week of the eight weeks that Essence runs there will be:

Relay

Relay - Passing on the Spirit of Life. Held on Fridays at Histon Football Club, Relay is for anyone who has a passion for sport and wants to explore the big questions of faith. The bar will open at 18:00 and free food will be available from 19:00 - 20:00. This event will be a fast moving multi-media presentation with a sporting theme and live music. Relay is held on the first and third Friday of the month. The bar and food will be available on the first Friday.

So, if you have got some big questions about the meaning of life and all that and are passionate about sport, Relay is the opportunity for you to explore both in a comfortable setting. If you are interested in spirituality but struggle with going to church Relay is for you.
