An Alpha course runs for 10 weeks. Each evening session begins with meal, followed by a speaker or video presentation on an aspect of Christian Basics and then an opportunity to join a discussion group. In the middle of Alpha is a special day away.
The course is ideal for anyone who wants to learn more about the Christian faith and/or anyone who would like to enquire into what Christianity really means. It is also a wonderful opportunity to meet people and make new friends.
There is no charge for the course and no prior knowledge of the Bible is required or assumed. The talks are:
| Date | Session theme |
| 2 Oct | Who is Jesus? |
| 9 Oct | Why did Jesus die? |
| 16 Oct | How can I be sure of my faith? |
| 23 Oct | How and why should I read the Bible? |
| 30 Oct | Why and how do I pray? |
| 6 Nov | How does God guide us? |
| 8 Nov | Holy Spirit day |
| 13 Nov | How can I resist evil? |
| 20 Nov | Why and how should we tell others? |
| 27 Nov | Does God heal today? |
| 4 Dec | What about the Church? |
An Alpha course is typically launched with a taster - an Alpha supper, at the conclusion of which there is a short talk entitled Christianity: Boring, Untrue, Irrelevant? This will take place at Histon Methodist Church on 25 September at 19:00. We welcome email enquiries about Alpha courses.
