PCA  REPORT:  ‘Hi everyone, good news regarding the Village Hall improvements, our first funding application has been successful.  Hopefully work will start next January or February. The remaining applications will help to complete all the proposed work.  Everyone enjoyed the Australian Follk Duo, "Cloudstreet" that performed at the Village Hall in September. They were fantastic, we'll certainly get them back, hopefully next year when they are touring again. And now Show Time, Douglas Music have 2 events on at the Hall this month, Firstly, on Friday, the 9th November, John Read (bass-baritone) and Vernon Boulton (piano) perform songs from Ivor Novello, various musicals and Edwardian ballads, and secondly, on Sat17th November, Oliver Coates (cello) and John Reid  (piano) play Faure' and Brahms. They will be sold out you can be sure.  On Saturday morning, the 1st December, we have Jimbo the Clown and an early visit from Santa in his Grotto.  And finally, anyone who has or is contemplating getting an EMU as a pet, will be glad to know that they no longer need a licence for it !  See you next month. Take care." Roger Perry

DOUGLAS DRAMA GROUP PRODUCTION  Nov 13, 16 and 17 th. WHO IS THE WOMAN IN GREY ?  Charles Condomine is an author collecting material for his new book. When he and his second wife Ruth ask local medium Madam Arcati to conduct a séance and include their good friends, Dr and Mrs Bradman, little does Madame Arcati know that Charles is merely using her to research material for his new book. However, the tables are soon turned, physically and metaphorically, and events take a dramatic turn which lead Charles and everyone else to doubt his sanity.

Who is the mysterious woman in grey that only Charles can see and hear ?

Can Charles convince anyone that she does exist ?

What will Ruth do if and when she discovers the truth ? Perhaps Madam Arcati can look into her crystal ball and provide the answers ?

PARISH COUNCIL NOTES: Council meets on the first Friday of each month 7.30 pm in the Village Hall. The agenda for the meeting will be posted on the Parish Council Notice Board at the end of The Common shops three days before each meeting, together with the details of Parish Councillors.

Youth Shelter:  Despite speculation to the contrary, the Parish Council has not yet determined the best location for a youth shelter.  However the area around the shops on The Common has been favoured by West Lancs District Council Planning Department, particularly the section that is within sight of the cctv camera.  The play areas (at the village hall and Burnside) were rejected some time ago as being too remote and out-of-sight.  The matter is still under discussion and once a preferred site has been chosen, any resident likely to be affected will be consulted. Alder Lane Management Subcommittee:  Volunteers are sought for this committee to help manage the Alder Lane Playing Fields and eventually, the extra facilities that are envisaged for that site.  If you are interested, please contact the clerk or your local Parish Councillor.

Clerk: Mrs Elizabeth-Anne Broad Tel:  01695 557678  Mob:  07973 340254 e-mail   liz@ighbee.plus.com
