BAT ADVICE LINE:  O1704 385735

Frogs need help!  More garden ponds are needed to help the declining population of amphibians due to habitat  loss.  It is estimated that half of the one million  ponds found in the countryside 100 years ago has disappeared. Frogs are good for gardens – their diet  includes slugs, ants and woodlice !  However the RSPCA have asked people not to move frogspawn from their ponds to other areas as this can spread disease. “It is really important to let the spawn achieve a natural balance – the chances of eggs surviving is very low and tadpoles are a vital food source for many creatures.’

More advice can be found at

are running a campaign called ‘Just Add Water’.
