Struell Wells

Healing wells and bath houses associated with St Patrick, in a secluded rocky valley.

Location:
Off B1, 1.5 miles east of Downpatrick.

The Silent Valley

With 70 inches of rain per year, this valley has supplied water to the Belfast region since the 1930's, when the Silent Valley was firstly flooded with water by damming the Kilkeel River and boring a tunnel through slieve Binnian to bring water from the Annalong River, and in the 1950's by provision of an extra reservoir beneath Ben Crom. Come and see the acres of parkland, the two differently designed dams, the craft centre, visitor centre with story of water supply in the British Isles, and coffee shop.

Location:
Approaches are well sign-posted from Kilkeel, Annalong, and the Spelga Dam
