Here you'll find a random selection of places I've been to and enjoyed outside the UK - at least the ones I've got round to writing up: When I swapped the C2400 for a C2500 several years ago, I had about 600Mb of digital pictures still to work through. BY now I've lost count, and since I've just bought an E300, it can only get worse.
The first places we visited abroad with a digital (a C400) were Mechelen (a real coincidence because a week later I discovered a statue from there in the church at Kingston Deverill) and Ieper. Coming full circle, in 2008 we visited the Somme, primarily for the new Carriere Wellington exhibition outside Arras.
More recently, we visited Chretien de Troyes' Brosceliande, which is actually the Foret de Paimpont in Brittany. This was part of a holiday where I finally made it to Gavr'inis, a cairn full of carved stones on an island in the Gulf of Morbihan.
In 2001 we went back to Mechelen and visited some surrounding Begijnhofs as well. Our main holiday that year was a Norwegian Coastal Cruise, which I'm finally getting round to writing up in 2005.
In 2002 we went back to Mechelen for the Hanswijk Procession, an enjoyable visit despite the cancellation of the procession itself. That summer we visited the Rhineland and the Lahn valley, including Beselich.
In 2003, we made it to the Hanswijk at Mechelen at last. As well as the procession, we very much appreciated the more religious aspects of the event.
Our last visit to Prague included a tour out to Terezin: harrowing, but like Ieper all those years ago, well worthwhile.

In 2007 Sue was posted to Japan for a while and in February 2008 I went out to join her for ten days. I took Widley, our elephant, out with me and this is his story. (There are a large number of sub-pages in this section, and the navigation is a bit different from the rest of the site, as befits something designed by an elephant. The reasoning behind writing from the point of view of a pink fluffy elephant is explained on the diray page. It's certainly no more crazy than taking Widley all around tokyo in the first place.)
