I have three children:Mike, a civil engineering graduate who now works for an IT consultancy; Kate, a Physics and Sports Science graduate researching for a Doctorate at Loughborough University and Will, whose reading a degree in script writing and film making at the University of Central Lancashire.

When I was younger, I worked for the village funeral director as a gravedigger, but I have now turned to blacksmithing as a major rural interest.

I am a grade II basketball referee and a Grade I timekeeper for athletics.
