PUPILS WITH SPECIAL LEARNING DIFFICULTIES
Based on primary reports those pupils in need of additional help are
placed in one class. The largest percentage of timetable time is spent
with our specialist teacher, assisted by 2 full-time classroom assistants.
This help continues for the first three years. Diagnostic testing is done
to identify individual weakness. Pupil’s progress is closely monitored
and changes made when necessary. Computers are used at every opportunity
to enhance their learning experience.
In 4th and 5th years these pupils follow the full range of subjects
as laid down in the Education Reform Order. GCSE examinations are offered
as appropriate, supplemented by AEB, NEAB, or WJEC - Certificate of Education/Achievement
in Science, Mathematics, Business Studies, Geography, Home Economics and
English.
These pupils have equal access to the full range of subjects offered
within the curriculum and will benefit if work is adjusted to their ability.
All teachers are aware of the range of needs that might arise and gear
lessons to the ability of all pupils in their classes. Opportunities for
and expectations of these pupils are the same as those of other pupils. |
