Tyrone County Poetry and Short Story Winners
.
Local school children met with UTV Sports presenter, Adrian Logan, recently when he travelled to Omagh to present awards to prizewinners in a competition. The art competition for primary schools and a poetry/short story competition were organised by the Sperrin Lakeland Trust’s Centenary Committee as part of a one-year programme of events to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Tyrone County Hospital.

The theme for both competitions was 'Health Care Through the Ages'. Organisers were delighted and overwhelmed by the large number of entries received, particularly from local primary school children in both Omagh and Strabane. Ken Gray, local interior designer, and Janet Hall, of the Centenary Committee, judged the entries. and were impressed with the quality of the work presented.

Winners were presented with prizes ranging from £10 to £50 whilst runners up received a dictionary for their school. Certificates were awarded to all entrants. Bernie McCrory, of the Committee said “we were delighted with the interest shown by local school children in his competition, and are very grateful to Adrian Logan who has given us his time in a very busy schedule and presented the winners with their prizes.
