GCSE OPTION  - SCIENCE (DOUBLE AWARD)
.
It is compulsory for all students to follow a Single Award Science course. 
For those students that have an interest or career aspirations in Science and Technology we are offering a Double Award Science course which means that such pupils will follow the Single award course but to a higher/deeper level and be awarded with two grades at GCSE. The three areas of Biology, Chemistry and Physics are studied in a Modular basis with tests spread throughout Years 11 and 12.
 

Assessment
The structure of assessment is as follows:

A) 6 Module Tests (25%) taken in Year 11
B) 6 Modules for one Final Examination (50%) taken in Year 12
C) Coursework (25%) done in Years 11 and 12.

 

FOR THE FUTURE
This course provides the opportunity to study A Level in Chemistry, Biology and/or Physics which are required for a wide variety of careers including Engineering, Agriculture, Food Science,Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, etc. It also is frequently required as a subject to follow apprenticeships in most engineering/technology based careers.
