GCSE OPTION  - BUSINESS STUDIES
.
Business Studies gives pupils the opportunity to develop knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of business from a wide range of perspectives. The aim of this course is to show the relevance of business and its value at local, national and inter-national level. The topics covered include modern production techniques and the value of technology, marketing, finance, the labour market, how profits and losses are controlled, the stock exchange, and the political and social environment in which business takes place. The ethics of business practices are also a key element in the course. Computers are used throughout the course to solve realistic business problems and to present work to the standard of the business world.

Assessment
1. Coursework Assignment 20% 
(Individual research related to a realistic business situation report not to exceed 2500 words)

                                        2. Written Examination 
 
Paper 1 -  30% (Case Study)  Paper 2       -        50%

FOR THE FUTURE
This course forms a sound basis for further and higher education. 
"A'  level, GNVQ and degree courses are available in Business Studies.

The course also provides opportunities for employment in the business world, eg, 
Commerce, Banking and Finance, Insurance, Administration, Marketing and Advertising.
