A variety of materials and media are used in Art & Design to
develop he skills of the individual. Basic skills are developed such as
painting, drawing, observing, modelling and construction, designing, problem
solving, presentation skills,observing, researching, evaluating, art appreciation,
computer graphics, and many more.
Assessment
Coursework will be marked by the teacher and then moderated by an external
"examiner".
The marks for each component is as follows:
Coursework 60%
Externally set assignment 40%
The assessment of the externally set assignment will be carried out
by a visiting moderator from the Examination Board, with the students being
awarded marks in the range 0 – 15.
FOR THE FUTURE
This subject opens a wide range of opportunities with college courses
in "A" level and GNVQ and a variety of Art and Design based degrees.
Careers can be pursued in a range of different areas such as Commercial
Artist, Product Designer, Fashion Designer, Photographer, Furniture Designer,
Set Designers for the media industry, Interior Designer, Art Teaching,
Media Studies, Architecture, or any career that requires a creative artistic
flair.
Often the skills and knowledge learnt in Art and Design are used throughout
your life.
