HOMEWORK
Homework plays an important integral part of learning, in that it reinforces
knowledge and helps to develop skills. It should be mainly related to classwork
and geared to suit the ability level of the child. Parents are encouraged
to be actively involved by monitoring homework given to ensure that it
is done. Each homework given is recorded in the pupils DAYBOOK that parents
sign weekly.
Children are given homework regularly where appropriate and it may take
the following form:
(a) written
(b) learning
(c) reading
(d) research
(e) investigation
(f) design
(g) practical
Homework’s are always marked and marks may be recorded as part of Assessment.
Homework may be done in:
(i) exercise books
(ii) file pages, or
(iii) worksheets.
Content and presentation are assessed. Teachers use a variety of marking
methods:
(1) grades
(2) numerical marks
(3) constructive comment
Comments regarding poor, good or undone homework may be recorded in
the Daybook. Marking may indicate spelling or grammar mistakes
While they have a homework timetable, pupils have the flexibility to
arrange their own homework. |
