ST JOSEPH'S HIGH SCHOOL

PUPIL TALK.

My name is Gerald Ward. I am 14 and I live in the parish of Gortin. I am a 3rd year at St. Joseph's High School, Plumbridge. The Principal is called Mr. Strong and so far I think that he is a good Principal. I have five in my family and I am the only one at the school in my family. My parents and my aunts and uncles also went to this school. They regarded it as a good school. I have an uncle who used to work
part-time at the school as a cleaner and his name is Paul Ward. I get to school on a bus at 8.45 in the morning and it takes about 10 minutes to get to school.

My family likes Irish music and I like playing it. I can play the tin whistle and recorder and I frequently play at school assembly. There used to be a music group in the school. My other hobbies include football, computers, cycling and reading.

My school library has lots of books, which when I take one out, I usually go for my favourite novels about Star Trek. I also like reading about wildlife, our past, dinosaurs and Star Wars.

From my house to the school is about six miles from Gortin. Gortin is quiet, sometimes boring village. There is a chemist, 5 shops and lots of pubs. There is also a take-away, a garage and public toilets.

I got a certificate for a handwriting competition and a certificate for attendance from the school. I think it is good to get an education and it doesn't matter if you got an 'A' and go to grammar school, or get a 'C' and go to a high school. There is no real difference.
