In the 3rd week of January 2000, St Joseph's had a 'Healthy Eating Week'. The Education Board and St Joseph's got together to educate the pupils on healthy eating matters, and that healthy food does not have to be 'tasteless and boring'. The menu's/meals offered in the school canteen changed to reflect the theme and was a great success. The canteen now promotes healthy menu's in the same manner one would find commercially. Diet habits have changed, but somewhat slowly. Gone are the days of 'Chips and Spam!!!!'. The school received many visitors ans some celebrities during the week, but undoubtably the highlight of the week was the visit of our own TV, celebrity cook and writer Jenny Bristow. She demonstrated her skill in the kitchen to Home Economics pupils who where delighted to meet someone they ususally see on television. Jenny prepared a range of disshes which she then raffled, giving pupils the chance to have 'Jenny Bristow Specials' for their evening meal.
