All You Need Is Love!

The summer of 2001 saw my West End Theatre debut in the form of arrangements for the musical All You Need Is Love based on songs by Lennon & McCartney. The show was greeted enthusiastically by audiences, running in the provinces during spring, then moving to the Queens Theatre in London in May for a run through to September.

"Lost" 1986 Steve Hackett album released!

Rumours have been flying around for a while now about the "lost" Steve Hackett album of 1986. This was the last full studio album I recorded with Steve (barring initial recordings in '88/'89 that would subsequently form part of Guitar Noir) and so far, it has gone unheard. Until now...

I am delighted to report that it has finally been released in its original form, entitled Feedback 86, featuring performances from Brian May, Ian Mosley, Pete Trewavas, Chris Thompson and Bonnie Tyler. So for those who have been wondering what we did after Till We Have Faces - here it is!

Full details can be found on the Steve Hackett website, and naturally it can be ordered from Camino Records.

Aliens have landed....

Also new to the production portfolio are two new albums and a video soundtrack, all the work of keyboardist and composer Gordon Reid.

The video Aliens of the Sea is an extraordinary record of the unearthly lifeforms to be found living in the waters of our own planet, set against a dynamic, atmospheric soundtrack composed and performed by Gordon. The soundtrack is soon to be available on a CD titled Aliens.

Aliens is now available (as well as details on all current projects) from Gordon's website.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

It's early April as I type, the lambs are getting frisky, and the finishing touches have just been applied to the music soundtrack CD of the world's No.1 favourite gameshow, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

The show's soundtrack, composed by the father/son partnership of Keith and Matthew Strachan, is being augmented by two dance tracks based on their music. Now, I'm a dyed-in-the-wool prog-rocker rather than a dance or techno buff, so I was rather surprised to find myself, along with production partner Rod Edwards, commissioned to perform and produce the dance tracks for the CD - a task which proved to be challenging and great fun.

The CD album's release is planned for Summer 2000. An album release is also planned for the USA, along with a UK single in May, featuring three dance tracks.

Amoure / Kyrie

A recent addition to the list of production works is an album which has been released by Universal initially for the German market. Under the artiste name Amoure, the album is titled Kyrie, Cat. No. 543 395-2. The album has a distinct choir/vocal bias, and as well as including some lateral treatments of the classics, this production also features some original compositions, both my own and co-compositions with Rod Edwards (ex-Gordon Giltrap) who was also co-producer on the project. So, if you like music with considerably more than three chords set to laid-back dance grooves and the occasional four-on-the-floor stomper, you may want to trawl the Deutsche online stores in the coming weeks to track it down. There are no immediate plans for a UK release, but if it happens, you'll read about it here first!
