- A support organisation for people with learning disabilities and their carers.

- It was founded in the late 1940's as the Middlesbrough Society of Parents of Backward Children.
What does Middlesbrough Mencap do?
- Money raised locally is spent locally.
- We organise a Christmas party every year, and trips out and other activities during the summer holidays.
- We organise training courses.
- We produce a bimonthly newsletter full of information and contacts for parents and carers, and a magazine of news and gossip for Gateway Members on the alternate months.

- One of our major fund-raisers is our Christmas Catalogue, we can supply you with a wide range of cards, gifts, and wrapping paper.
