Blyth Gateway visit Middlesbrough

Members of Middlesbrough Gateway's Happy Talk Pen-pal Club have been writing to members of Blyth Gateway for nearly 2 years.

Last month, Blyth Gateway members came to Middlesbrough to meet their pen-pals

Thirteen people from Blyth Gateway Club visited us for ten pin bowling and a meal. Steven, Gillian and Ian are my pen friends. We all enjoyed ourselves. Steve from Hollywood Bowl was very kind and Gateway members say a very big thank you to him. We had to change our shoes to play bowls.

On Saturday we went bowling with our penpals at Hollywood Bowl. The group were from Blyth Gateway Club and my friend Mary came. We all enjoyed ourselves and had two lots of bowling then a meal. I had fish and chips and Mary had the same. It was nice to see who we write letters to. We had presents. I gave Mary a necklace and she got me an earring box. They stayed at a hotel and went back on Sunday. Betty Glaisbrook

Six months of planning are over.
A brilliant night out come and gone.
When Blyth Gateway came to the 'Boro
And two lots of pen pals became one.

An evening of bowling and chatter.
So much to say, so much to do.
