1. Can you give us a bit of background on Celtic Warrior?
CW: We formed in 1992, a few months after the tragic car accident
that took our brothers Violent Storm. We formed the band as a tribute
to them and named the band after the title of the VS album.
2. It must have been very difficult starting a band after the accident
which took Paul, Brian, Darren and Jask. How did the band's followers
react?
CW: Followers of the band were devastated, although VS were fairly
new they were very popular. At their funerals the Churches were so
packed people had to stand outside. They will never be forgotten.
R.I.P.
3. Is it true that not long after the crash, that Reds in Cardiff
put up posters attacking our dead Comrades? Is this typical of them?
CW: I'm not too sure about posters, but they did paint "4 down 1 to
go" (meaning me to go) on the pub wall where we drank every weekend.
This is typical of them. They are nothing but sick scum.
4. You've brought out 2
Celtic Warrior CD's.
Were you pleased with
them?
CW: We were more pleased with the first CD 'WE WILL NEVER FORGET'
because the production and sound quality was better. But 'LET THE
BATTLE BEGIN' was good all the same.
5. More recently, Billy worked with Aussie Nigel on the Broadsword
CD. Can you tell us a little more about that?
CW: Yes, Billy went to Australia last April ('96) to visit Nigel and
while he was there they recorded an 8 track CD. They called it
Broadsword
- 'GOD OF THUNDER' and Billy thinks it's the best music he's recorded
so far. Nigel is planning on coming over to Wales in the summer and
hopefully another Broadsword CD will be recorded.
6. Obviously you've played lots of concerts with some of the best
bands around. Which bands do you rate? Which concerts were the best
and why?
CW: There are so many good bands around at the moment, but I've got
to say playing alongside Fortress was the most enjoyable gig that
we have done, as well as gigging with Brutal Attack.
7. Being international jet-setting superstars, how do you cope with
the jet lag?
CW: As for getting jet lag - we're starting to get used to it! ha
ha!
8. What fanzines do you read? Do you think the 'underground' Nationalist
fanzine scene has improved?
CW: We read any of the zines that are promoting the bands and giving
information on what's happening like new recordings, gigs, merchandise
etc. . . . zines like Resistance, Awake, Salute, Highlander and of
course Final Conflict. We used to read Blood & Honour but we got sick
of reading who C18 said were traitors and police informers so we started
to read the Sunday Sport instead because there's more truth in that!!
9. What's the scene like in South Wales?
CW: We've got a pretty good scene here. There's not as many skins
as there used to be, but we've still got a lot of good people who
are with us.
10. If you could do a concert anywhere next weekend and with any bands,
past or present, where would you play and with whom (this does not
include Top of the Pops with Showaddywaddy)?
CW: It would have to be with Fortress, preferably in Sweden or Germany
because that's where they get good crowds; but anywhere really as
long as decent people are in attendance and not idiots.
11. Well, that's about it. Thanks for doing the interview - any last
messages for FC readers?
CW: Thanks for the interview and to all FC readers: Keep up the fight
