Our Employee Relations experience is substantial and many Associates have represented clients at Employment Tribunals.

Malcolm Martin has completed consultancy and training projects for a wide range of organisations since 1992. His focus is on industrial relations practices overlaid with competitive edge and general personnel issues. In this time he has also developed Certificate in Personnel Practice programmes for Manchester Open Learning and co-authored the highly successful, and practical, book: Personnel Practice.In addition to this, he brings to clients some 12 years experience in industrial relations gained within steel and manufacturing, some 4 years as a trainer and 7 years experience in Personnel. He held middle management responsibilities for over fifteen years.

Professional qualifications include Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), Membership of the Institute of Management, and certificate qualifications in Employment Law with Middlesex University and with the CIPD.

Malcolm believes that good personnel practices contribute significantly to business and organisational success. He enjoys working with organisations to create environments where people are committed to business objectives.

Tricia Jackson has undertaken consultancy and training for a broad spread of organisations since 1995. Her focus is on legal aspects of the employment relationship and personnel skills training. She has delivered Personnel Programmes for a number of leading providers, co-authored the book, Personnel Practice, and written two acclaimed books in the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development’s Good Practice series one on Smoking Policies and the other on Drugs and Alcohol Policies. A third book in this series on Career Development is due to be published in early 2000.

Tricia has more than 10 years experience in tutoring/training roles overlapping with 7 years in generalist personnel management positions in both private and public sector environments.

Professional memberships include Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, Membership of the Institute of Administrative Management, an MSc in Personnel Management, and certificate qualifications in counselling and competency assessment.

Tricia has represented clients at employment tribunals. Much of her current work, however, entails educating and encouraging managers to improve their knowledge and understanding of legislative provisions and to adopt good practices. The aim is to achieve harmonious working relationships and realise corporate goals.

Bob Mawer has worked at senior level in both HR and Finance over 10 years and has been undertaking consultancy assignments in the UK and abroad since 1994. His main HR focus is on the assessment of individuals and groups in the context of selection and development. He has been instrumental in designing graduate and managerial selection and assessment programmes for several blue-chip organisations, for whom he has also written assessment exercises. He also provides independent advice to organisations and individuals on the use of psychometric instruments for aptitude/ability testing and personality measurement. He specialises in the use of integrated assessment methods.

Bob's "Finance for Personnel Managers" training programme takes a subject renowned for its dullness and brings it to life in the HR context, covering such topics as budgeting, costing and financial accounting. Bob has authored several learning publications.

Professional memberships include Associate Membership of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and Licentiate Membership of the CIPD.

Les Frankish has worked as an independent Consultant/Trainer since 1991, and actively involves himself in community responsibilities. Specialist areas, in which he has worked with clients, include Health and Safety, supervisory skills, employee relations and European issues.

2 years experience in recruitment with the motor industry and 4 years as a Personnel Manager in the chemical industry is supplemented with 16 years educating and training first line managers, personnel professionals and Trade Union officials.

Professional qualifications include Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and a certificate in Industrial Relations with the Open University.

Les is committed to the integration of all stake holders in the employment relationship.

Since 1992 Trevor Marklew has been undertaking consultancy on behalf of Business Link, the East Lancashire Training and Enterprise Council and others. Particular interests are Investors in People, the employment contractual relationship in SMEs and employment tribunal representation. He designs and delivers professional personnel programmes for Manchester Open Learning. He also delivers Certificate in Personnel Practice programmes to major clients in the Local Government and Finance sectors.

Trevor offers clients 25 years broad industrial experience in manufacturing and heavy distribution including 10 years with an industrial relations emphasis and 8 years in a Personnel and Training role. Middle management responsibilities were held for fifteen years.

Professionally he is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and holds a Diploma in Management Studies.

Trevor believes that appropriate best practice in the personnel field is now finally being identified, and the benefits for employers being proven.

He is keen to assist organisations to implement those practices.
