Lancia HPE

Lancia HPE

1: Pininfarina

The Morris 1100, on which the Vanden Plas Princess was based, was styled by the Italian coachbuilder Pininfarina. BMC had first enlisted their services for the 1959 Austin A40 Farina (the Countryman version of which was a pioneer hatchback), and then in 1961 for the Peugeot 404 look-alike Farina saloons, such as the Morris Oxford and Austin Cambridge.

While the Lancia HPE was designed in-house at Lancia, Pininfarina undertook the styling of the Spider (convertible) and Montecarlo (Scorpion in USA) variants of the Beta range, from which the HPE was derived.
