Hollins
Returns
Thanks
very much to Kenny from The Official Site of Raith
Rovers Football Club for pointing out the arrival to the club of John
Hollins (Chelsea) as the assistant manager.
Raith are currently 9th in a League of ten clubs in the
Bell's Scottish Football League First Division.
Bob's
70-71 Pages last caught up with John as a commentator of
BBC Radio Five Live, prior to that he had been the
temporary manager atStockport County, until Sammy
McIlory took over.
Being Sir
Bobby Robson
Sir Bobby Robson has cropped up in three
adverts, two with a very high profile, no doubt preparing
his pension plan for his full-time retirement.
First off
is the amazing television advert for Barclays Bank and
the commencement of the Barclaycard Premiership football
season.
The camera
follows one fan getting on the bus to a football match. I
suspect the use of computer technology, as a number of
bodies with Sir Bobby Robson heads spookily line the
route. A vast number of Sir Bobbys, in all shapes, sizes,
ages ... and species, are seen, along with several other
Premiership managers including Bob 70-71 favourites, Sir
Alex Ferguson and Harry Redknapp, as well as Sam
Allardyce and Arsène Wenger.
The punchline being that everybody is like a
football/bank manager, or something.
Next up in
another television advert, Sir Bobby, revisits his role
as the good angel in the Walker's crisps adverts, by
playing a hand-clappy style religious leader in an
all-white suit, advertising The News of the World.
The advert becomes equally as sinister as the Barclays'
advert, when it cuts to an all smiling organ player that
is revealled as Terry Venables, his co-star in the Walker's
crisps adverts.!
Finally,
less high profile, but I spotted The Non-League Paper
advertises itself with picture of Sir Bobby reading the
excellent bi-weekly.

Todd -
Last Bradford City Manager ?
Colin
Todd (Sunderland) has become manager of Bradford
City, following the departure of Bryan Robson.
Bryan's contract had expired on 9 May 2004, and he chose
to not renew it. Colin had been Bryan's assistant during
last season's relegation from Division One.
Colin's
assistant will be former Derby County, Bobby Davison.
Bobby also played in the League for three West Yorkshire
clubs, Huddersfield Town, Halifax Town and Leeds United,
but did not complete the set by playing for Bradford City
as well.
The
question is now, will there be a club to manage next
season ? The next deadline to negotiate is 1 July 2004.
If the club does not come to a deal with its former
Chairman, Gordon Gibb about next season's rent by 11 am
on this day, the Bradford City could fold. 300,000 pounds
need to be found for this to be avoided.
Bradford
City would be the first English League club to go
bankraupt since Maidstone United in 1992.

Docherty Departs
Mick Docherty
leaves Burnley following a change of management team. Burnley Today News reports:
Mick
Docherty's departure is the end of a third stint at
the club, after starting his playing career at Turf
Moor, captaining the FA Youth Cup-winning side in
1968. He was also Frank Casper's assistant departing
to take up a similar role under Stan Ternent at Hull
City before returning under Ternent as the former
Clarets chief completely transformed the coaching
set-up at Turf Moor.
