Big Ron Sings

Last night (25/9) Ron Atkinson popped up as a guest on BBC 1's 'Johnny Vaughan Tonight' show. Following Backstreet Boy, Nick Carter, there was a host of screaming girls, which Johnny jested were for Big Ron himself.

Ron was casual and did well to feel at home as an old geezer on a post-yoof show, making quips and keeping up with the Vaughan's fast humour. He was philosphical about his achievements in life, saying he'd enjoyed being a player, a manager and now a pundit for ITV. Ron even admired Nick's life, saying that he wished more academy players had Nick's determination to succeed at what they do.

Following Nick Carter's admission that he had kissed a fan, Ron volunteered that he had, too. And followed the joke through that the fan wasn't female !

The appearance seems to have been linked to a new CD that has been released of ITV pundits singing ole time songs, and a clip was shown of Ron singing a Sinatra standard. Ron said that he could honestly say he was a better singer that our Frank now is, or Elvis for that matter. But less likely to have a Number One, I would suggest.
