The Division One side are still not safe in 15th in spite of having a 36 man squad to choose from. Harry has been the Direcetor of Football since the Summer. Rix was manager for 14 months but won just 16 of 57 matches, and a goalless draw against Sheffield Wednesday last Saturday was the final straw. Story from
Nationwide's football site News 17 March 2001 Best TV Moment Good to see George Best on the box last night in the BBC 1 TV programme, which asked the public to vote for their best TV Moment of 2001. A shortlist of four top TV moments were selected in 6 categories including Sport, Comedy and Drama. The winner of each category was chosen by a panal, which then went to the public vote. The Sporting category included Michael Owen's hatrick against Germany, which led to England leading their World Cup group, and David Beckham's fabulous free kick goal in injury time verus Greece, that ultimately secured the qualification to Japan 2002. The winner in the Sports category was Beckham's goal and George was one of the audience guests that was interviewed about it. George was asked if he would select Beckham in his all time best team, and he quipped that he would not play him instead of himself. George said that he had a bleeper with him monitoring his health.Alex Best was sat next to him in the auidence.
