| Bob 70-71 | August 2001 NewsThis is the latest news of all the players who appeared in the 1970-71 FKS Publishers Ltd Wonderful World of Soccer Stars Album 31 August Rothmans 2001-2002 Update - Nish Out, Hill Returns, and Boyce Out. Having read this year's Rothmans Football Yearbook, I see that David Nish (Leicester City) is no longer the Youth Academy Director at Leicester City. There was a reference on a website to David having moved to Derby's academy, but Derby's official website makes no reference to this. so if you know where he's gone do let me know. According to Leicester City's official website, the position as Leicester's Youth Academy Director has been taken over by Alan Hill (Nottingham Forest), who I last heard of at Leeds United. Meanwhile, over at Millwall, Ronnie Boyce (West Ham United) is no longer listed as the club's Chief Scout, which is about time because he had been on Tottenham Hotspur's book for several years. Well, now I note that he's not on Spurs' official website either - so if you know where Ronnie's gone then also let me know. 16 August McFarland's Back Thanks to a fellow Bob who wrote to the site to tell me that Roy McFarland (Derby County) is back in a manager's role at Torquay United. Torquay are in the Third Division and have had a torrid time of late nearly losing League status altogether last season. Hopefully all that will now change with Roy being in charge. Roy has his own column on the official website. See Torquay United Football Club Pat's Grrrrrrrrrreat Good to see Pat Jennings on the box last week in the programme, 'Trust Me , I'm a Celebrity' hosted by comedian, Jack Dee. The theme of the show was famous stars promoting products in t.v. adverts. One clip had a young Pat talking to Tony the Tiger, who sells Frosties to this day. The scene had Pat saving goals from shots by young boys. Judging by one of the lads' Crystal Palace kit the advert was made around 1972. Morris Out A piece of news I missed from last season was that Kettering Town sacked Peter Morris (Ipswich Town). It came to light when reading all about former Leeds United favourite, Carl Shutt becoming the new permanent manager, having been in charge in a temporary capacity since the sacking on 10 February 2001. A 5-1 home defeat to Morcombe was the final straw for the side that was in the Conference League at the time. The side were relegated at the end of last season, and are in the Doctor Martins Premier League, this season. See Kettering Town Football Club 9 August Clemence Award. It seems
that UEFA are to give Ray Clemence (Liverpool) a special award for having played in over 100
European competition games. Ray is currently England's
goalkeeping coach. 6 August Sir Bobby's 'Hair Don't' Sir Bobby Charlton has admitted his famous 'Bobby Charlton' hair style was a mistake. The wrap over famed for both Sir Bobby and Baldy Man was once even thrown into Room 101 (See February 2001). Football 365 reports
'Full Marks to' Big Ron Another great report at Football365.com features a new form of Cliché Bingo and Bob 70-71's very own Ron Atkinson.
