Dennis Mortimer (Coventry City) 'FourFourTwo' magazine January 2001, no.89, has a feature that includes Dennis this month.

Dennis took his first steps in management as player-coach of Redditch United, after which he went to West Brom as assistant manager. When that ended there was a year job hunting after which he became a regional coach for the PFA.

He returned to WBA under Ossie Ardilles as reserve team coach, but when he left for Spurs, Keith Burkinshaw became manager and Dennis became the assistant manager. This lasted for 14 months before he was sacked.

Dennis re-entered management last May when he took over the Wolves women's team. Dennis is quoted as saying,

"The fact that the women's game is growing and will get into a professional league means this is a good opportunity to get in on the first rung of the ladder. Can I be the manager to take them into that era ? I hope I can give the players the knowledge to turn them into the kind of side that can hold their own in a pro League."

John Pratt (Tottenham Hotspur) 'FourFourTwo' magazine January 2001, no.89, also has a feature on John this month.

The article is headed by a picture of a very youthful looking John washing windows. John played 415 games and scored 49 goals for Spurs at at present is their 14th most played player.

He left Spurs after 15 years in 1980, when manager Keith Burkinshaw told him he would not be in the first 11. Though there were offers in this country he went to the North American Soccer League (NASL) with Portland Timbers until it folded in 1983

John returned to Spurs under Keith Berkinshaw as the youth team manager. When Peter Shreeves took over in 1984 he was promoted to Assistant Manager. Spurs did well finishing 3rd in 1984-85 and reaching the UEFA Cup quarter-finals. In 85-86 the side were just 9th in the League and both John and Shreeves were both sacked.

After that John did some coaching in the US and South Africa, but getting permanent work proved difficult. So in 1989, John set himself up in a window cleaning business. John says, " Window cleaning is enjoyable when the sun's shining, but can bemiserable when it's cold and raining. People recognise me out on my rounds and you can see them thinking,' It looks like him, but it can't be - he's cleaning windows !' They assume we earned as much then as players do today."

John does also do hospitality work forSpurs and scouting work for Aberdeen.

Thought you would like to know about Mike. He is living in Darwin, Australia working for a removal company still married to his lovely wife Pam who he met whilst at Everton. He coaches an amateur team called The Northern Lions on a Sunday. (A bunch of ex pat Poms  & rag bag locals who love to increase the share price of Carlton & United Breweries with their after match consumption)

Mike coached in Newcastle (NSW) & came to Darwin to coach the now defunct Darwin Cubs. (The only team in the world to play in a league outside their own country- Singapore). Mike does a spot on a local radio sports show on a Saturday morning & pops into Goodison on his trips back to England where he is accorded hero status by older Evertonians.

ps his bonus for scoring twice in the cup final of '66 was...................... 30 quid.!!!! The rest of the team got 800 but as he played in only the 1/4, semi & final the generous directors thought his contribution was not enough!!!

Dennis Clarke (Huddersfield Town) is a partner in a property company, and lives in Birmingham.

David Cross (Rochdale) is Senior Youth Coach at Oldham Athletic

Jim Cumbes (West Bromwich Albion) is marketing manager at Lancashire County Cricket Club (Actually I see him on the box quite a lot in this role and just keep forgetting to pass it on ! - Bob)

Ken Foggo (Norwich City) runs a dry cleaning business in the East End of London.

Doug Fraser (West Bromwich Albion) Is now retired having been a prison officer in Nottingham. He loves playing golf (handicap 12)

Johnny Giles (Leeds United) (To quote wbaunofficial.com...)

Lives in Harborne and writes for a living. He flies to Dublin every week to front the Irish equivalent of Match of the Day. "It's a bit of fun with no pressure" smiles the old maestro (source Johnny Giles March 2001)

Johnny's son Michael - who was frankly far from the best young player Albion have ever had - didn't stick around in the football game. He went to Uni, picked up his MBA and became a solicitor. Currently he lives in Winchester and works for NTL (source Johnny Giles March 2001).

Willie Johnston (Rangers) Is on the East Coast of Scotland, where he runs The Port Brae in Kirkaldy.

John Kaye (West Bromwich Albion) Is a welder in Goole and manages the local side Goole Town.

Dick Krzywicki (Huddersfield Town) Works in the engineering industry and coaches youngsters in his spare time.

Peter Latchford (West Bromwich Albion) runs a farm in Ayrshire

Graham Lovett (West Bromwich Albion) (To quote wbaunofficial.com...)

Did his bit for advertising in the Express & Star, now lives in Marbella. Nicknamed "shove" he was a truly great passing midfielder. Had he not broken his neck twice he would have been an England regular. (Source: Tom Ross)
