The 1970-71 season came
fresh after England's failed defence of the World Cup in
Mexico 1970, when they blew a 2-0 lead against the West
Germans in extra time. Reserve goalie Peter Bonetti got
much of the blame. My Dad was more damning of Colin Bell
- Bobby Charlton should never have come off. It was the
Finals of Pele and Brazil, and these are my very first
memories of watching football.
