'FourFourTwo' April 2002 No.92

Rating: BB
Not a lot
this month, but still the odd scrap as always.
Brian
Clough (Derby County manager)'s regular
column, 'Over the Top', this month includes a
60s/70s picture of Dave Mackay. It seems Cloughie had
sat next to Dave at this season's Derby County v
Sunderland match. He says that Dave was his best
bargain signing and they agreed that football is
a hard drug to give up. This brought home the
article which covered both Graham Taylor
(Lincoln City) and Sir
Alex Ferguson's return (or
non-leaving) to Premier League football
management.
The
'A Minute Silence' Obituary feature included Jeff
Astle as well as John
Bromley and Ramon Moreno Grosso,
which I will later add to this site's
Obituary pages.
World
Cup Classics no.5 - this month is
Maradonna's classic versus England in Mexico
1986, the day of the famous 'Hand of God' goal. I
mention this only because Peter
Shilton is the goalie, of course.
Carlos
Alberto (Santos) is interviewed by
Neil Billingham which mainly focused on the
1970-71 World Cup win, but there was a little 'Where are they now ?' info.
Stan
Bowles (Manchester City) gives us some more of
his cheeky-chapie footballing memories of the
Seventies. Actually it was the first article I
read this month, it makes fun reading.
Smirnoff
vodka run an advert using their catch phrase, 'as
clear as your conscience'. It is a page large
photo of Roger Hunt (Bolton Wanderers) celebrating that
doubtful goal in the 1966 World Cup Final,
amongst a few prostrate West Germans!
And
the '66 Final is also exploited by Kitbag ( www.kitbag.com ), who sell the
reversible England away shirt by showing the red
shrted players of the England winning team. Bobby
Charlton holds the Jules Rimet trophy in the
after match celebrations flanked by Alan Ball and
Bobby Moore.
And
finally, a feature on football tattoos has the
ultimate Man City 70-71 tattoo ... a picture of
Colin Bell (Manchester City)
