Falkirk's Fergie's Future

One or two things about Sir Alex to bring to attention.

1) I came across an excellent link at Alex Ferguson Fact File 1986 -

2) Sir Alex joins Kevin Keegan and Ron Atkinson for having his name on a computer game. Released by Playstation, the game is called 'Alex Ferguson's Player manager 2001'.

The magazine advert in January's 'Total Football' Magazine, shows a picture of a white human brain with the caption 'Fig 1 : Premier League Manager'. Then it shows 'Fig 2 : Alex Ferguson', which is the same picture but the brain is made to look like a black and white football. 'The Ultimate Manager. The Ultimate Management Game', it concludes.

3) Finally, Fergie has been describing his future to 'the Scotsman' newspaper. Manchester United Official Web site reports it in the following way :

"The club are engaged in a programme of development which will see us operating academies in places like South Africa, China and other parts of the Far East," he explained.

"I will visit these places and make a contribution, but it will probably only take up about 30 days a year. That suits me because it will leave me free to do the other things."

As you'd expect from a man with such a varied range of interests away from football, Fergie has plans for a full and active life.

"I'm going to love going to United's games just to watch and enjoy," he said.

"There are other things. I'd like to go the Melbourne Cup, the Kentucky Derby, see more of America, probably the southern states. But the club won't be talking to me about that until after the summer. I think they'll be assessing possible candidates for the manager's job and then we'll finalise things.

"I'm very happy at the way things are shaping up. I think it will be perfect for me."

He's Here !

A run of rather disturbing poor form has led to Sven-Göran Eriksson (Karlskoga) resigning from (and NOT being sacked by) Lazio. Which means he's now available to be the England team manager. Good luck Erik !

His resignation has been a matter of speculation in the press ever since his impending England appointment was announced, but came after 6 defeats in 7 games - which even included losing to English relegation possibles, Leeds United (only joking !) His place in Lazio is to be taken by Bob 70-71 favourite Dino Zoff (Napoli) who's held the post before.

This also marks the end of Peter Taylor's (Southend) position as caretaker manager of the England team.
