Yorkshire Personality of the Year 2000
Gabby Yorath - Picture Mark Bickerdike
I've been over-looked again ... It was great to see last
week's 10 November, 2000 edition of the Yorkshire Evening
Post carrrying a full page spread devoted to Terry's (Leeds
better looking daughter, Gabby Yorath. See This is Leeds Your Guide to the
Leeds Area from Regional Independent Media which carried the full front
page report as follows ...
Louise Unlucky 13
Sticking with the limited female content of this site ... Louise's latest single, 'Beautiful Inside' debuted last week at a lowly (for her) 13 in the UK charts. Now in it's second week it has already begun to free fall.
Gymslips and the over 13s
Meanwhile, hubby Jamie Redknapp - laid up with injury at present has been involved with a Government initiative to encourage British teenage girls to keep participating in sport. It seems the clothing worn during gym lessons and the choice of sports available have been putting the UK's teenages off. Jamie has been recruited to get the girls' attention. Owen Scores ... And Pulls Out !
Related to the last item only by the fact that Jamie's team mate, Michael Owen - Terry's son (Bradford City) - got a UEFA Cup winner against Slovan Liberec. Owen's 82nd minute goal made it 3-1 to Liverpool - the game ended 3-2. The game was away from home in the second round, second leg of the competition. This gave Liverpool a 4-2 aggregate win in and a place in the 3rd round. See liverpoolfc.tv teamsheet 2000-2001 november Slovan Liberec 2 - 3 Liverpool
Michael did make Peter Taylor's first squad as England's caretaker manager against Italy in Turin, but was forced to pull out with back injury. Taylor later said he hadn't planned on putting Michael in the starting line up anyway (oh no, here we go - England leaving out their best players, where have I heard that one before ...). Michael will be back for the next Liverpool match, however.
Frank Lampard Junior - Frank's son (West Ham United) - also made the England squad, but also did not get a game. Frank was captain of the England Under 21's formerly managed by Peter Taylor. See Nationwide's football site England
Currie Scores !
Darren Currie - Tony's nephew (Sheffield United) -went two better with his hatrick for Barnet against Blackpool in a 7-0 home victory in Division 3. Darren's goals were the 4th, 5th and 7th goals coming in minutes 45, 76 and 83. The game was Tony Cottee's first game ever as a manager and he even got the opening goal ! Tony is being touted as the next England manager on the strength of his record in football management. See netbees.co.uk - Story
Ferguson Scores !
Another Darren, - this time Alex Ferguson's son - was on target yet again for Wrexham in their Division 2 home defeat to Stoke City earlier in the month. Darren's 65th minute penalty pulled the score back to 2-1 and that remained the score at the end of the match. Darren hasn't missed a match for Wrexham this season and has now scored seven times - twice from the penalty spot. Wrexham are in 14th place after 17 games. See Stoke City (Home)
Brownlie Scores !
Paul Brownlie - John's son (Hibernian) - has scored his first goal for Arbroath since his father took over as manager. His 41st minute goal in the Scottish Second Division at home to Queen's Park, pulled the scores back to 1-1. Queen's Park went ahead again soon into the second half, but the game finished 2-2, with supporters still feeling it was 2 points lost. Currently Arbroath are a lowly 7th in their 10 team division.
