Ferguson Scores - No 4!

Duncan Ferguson was on target for Wrexham again as they won 4-3 away from home for the second time this month ! Unbelieveably Wrexham were trailing 3-0 to Luton Town in this Division Two match with 59 minutes gone ! Ferguson's winner completed the turnaround in the 87th minute. In spite of all this Wrexham are still only 11th in the League. See Luton Town (Away)

Joe Royle (Everton) 's son, Darren, scored the 3rd goal in the 34th minute for Ashton United of the Unibond Division One, in their 9-2 home victory against Gretna. Gretna can take heart from the fact that they drew the final 20 minutes of the match, 2-2. Ashton moved up to fourth in the League with games in hand over all the teams above them. See Ashton United

Pat Jennings FA Cup Return

Kingstonian of the Nationwide Conference League have signed Pat Jennings, as goalkeeping cover, and he turned out last Saturday in the FA Cup for the 5-2 home victory against Devises Town of the Western League. Pat, is indeed the son of Pat Jennings, who appears on these pages under Tottenham Hotspur, and has previously played for Cardiff City and Wimbledon. Though Kingstonian are struggling this season, Pat junior is going to find it difficult to keep his first team place, as the Non-League England international, Steve Farrelly, is the usual choice when he's not injured. Pat is signed on a non-contract basis. See Kingstonian FC Online

Owen - Front Cover Star

How things change ! In the build up to England's opening two World Cup qualifiers, Michael Owen was believed to be the lynchpin star whose time had arrived. This was reflected by achieving the rare honour of being on the front of both football magazine weeklies, 'Shoot' and 'Match' for the 7 October 2000 issue dates !

Then he has poor game in the defeat against Germany, the manager resigns, and Owen can be lucky to make the bench for the Finland game. Though present he was not called on to play.Owen is learning all there is to know about the ups and downs of the game at a very young age !

Owen Capped For England

In all the excitement about Kevin Keegan's departure (see news), I nearly forgot to report that Michael Owen won a cap for his part in England's 1-0 defeat to Germany in the opening World Cup qualifier. Most people would ask him to give the cap back, however. He was many of the star players who had an awful match and prompted our Kev to resign. The game had extra significance as being the very last game in Wembly Stadium. See Football Unlimited News Germans polish off Keegan

So dreadful was the performance that caretaker manager, Howard Wilkinson (Brighton &H) has left Michael out of the team for the second qualifier in Finland tomorrow ! So universally was it agreed he played badly, that it's not even caused much of a fuss !!

Louise New Single

Harry Redknapp's daughter-in-law has a new single and video being played everywhere -' Beautiful Inside', but it hasn't been released yet, so more news when it is.

Cooper Scores - Penalty Loser !

Mark Cooper, Terry's son, scored his fourth of the season in Hednesford Town's home defeat to Woking Town in the Conference League. The 87th minute penalty was a consolation goal as the side lost 2-1. See http--www.hednesfordtownfc.co.uk-20002001-reports-home-woking.htm

In With The New

Wembly is closing down after 77 years as England's leading stadium and to celebrate, the last match is against their great footballing rivals Germany. Kevin Keegan has picked the side and it includes, England's star of the present and hopefully future, too, Michael Owen. Michael's father Terry was a Bradford City player back in 1970-71.
