Brian
Talbot (Ipswich
Town) wins the Top Bob 0f the
Year Award 2003! Thanks almost exclusively to the hard
efforts of the RushDEN and Diamonds fans, Brian is the
truely deserving winner of the 2003 award for the 70-71
player that contributed the most to the 2002-2003 as
voted for by you the website visitors, well and me.
Brian
won the award for helping Rushden and Diamonds to
Division Three promotion in only the second season
that the club have held League status. He was also
the manager who lifted the club into the League from
the Conference, well done Brian !
Previous
winners: 2000 Sir Alex Ferguson, 2001 John Lambie, 2002 Sir
Bobby Robson
The
2003
Special Bob Award nominated by the site's webmaster
(that's me - Bob), is Paul Hart (Stockport County), thus following the
growing tradition of giving the award to ex-Leeds United
players ! Paul was the only Bob 70-71 Player I had the
privilege to speak to in last season's qualifying period,
when I met him at the Harrogate Town v Nottingham Forest
XI pre-season friendly.
Paul
not only impressed me with his tollerance of a local,
who was clearly under the influence of alcohol (not
me), but also gave me his autograph, and
helped me to get Liam O'Kane's and Ian Bowyer's autographs, too.
Thanks Paul ! My son commented, 'Liam who ?' - I was
delighted...
Previous
winners: 2000 Eddie Gray, 2001 Norman
Hunter,
2002 Peter Lorimer
Special
congratulations are due to site friend, Elvis Presley and
West Ham United fanatic, Billy
Green.
This Summer he married Catherine Lane at Gracelands and
he has chronicled these events at his website at Billy and Catherine
Green
