'Back Home' - England World Cup Squad (the Summer 1970 No. 1 that was the Grandaddy of all those dreadful footballers records).

'All Right Now' and 'My Brother Jake'- Free.

'Lola' - Kinks.

'Brown Sugar' - Rolling Stones.

'Neandertal Man' - Hotlegs (whose members became 10 c.c.).

'Big Yellow Taxi '- Joni Mitchell.

'Black Night' and 'Strange Kind of Woman'- Deep Purple.

'It's Impossible' - Perry Como.

'Amazing Grace' -(the pre- bagpipes version by )Judy Collins.

'I'll be There' as well as 'The Love You Save' and 'Mama's Pearl'- Jackson Five.

'Ride a White Swan' - T.Rex (see above also).

'(They Long to be) Close to You' - (the original of the Alan Partridge classic by) The Carpenters.

Cliff Richard had four hits with 'Goodbye Sam Hello Samantha','I Ain't Got Time Anymore', 'Sunny Honey Girl',' Silvery Rain'.

Elvis Presley had six (!) with' The Wonder of You', 'Kentucky Rain', 'I've Lost You', 'You Don't Have to Say You Love Me', 'There Goes My Everything', 'Rags to Riches'.

... and who can forget 'Bridget the Midget' by Ray Stevens ???

Meanwhile David Bowie (another hero of mine) DIDN'T have hits with 'Memory of a Free Festival Parts I and II', 'Holy,Holy / Black Country Rock' and 'Hang On to Yourself / Moonage Daydream', but Peter Noone did with Bowie's song ' Oh You Pretty Things'.
