Eddy Treytel, Dick Schneider, Jan Boskamp, Henk Wery,
Theo Laseroms, Bram Geilman Feijenoord, or Feyenoord as they are now known, are included in the 1970-71 F.K.S. World of Soccer Stars book as the European Cup finalists of the 1969-70 season, along with Celtic. Teams from the Netherlands were at an unprecedented peak at this time. Following Ajax's defeat in the European Cup to AC Milan in 1969, Feyenoord won the 1970 final, and Ajax then went on to win the next three. Feyenoord also won the UEFA Cup in 1974. Many people believed the Dutch deserved to win the 1974 World Cup, and they doublessly would have done had they not had to face the competition's host West Germany in the Final. Their 1978 World Cup Final defeat to the next hosts in Argentina, remains arguably the best European effort on non-European soil in the history of the competition.Feyenoord were last Dutch League champions in 1998-99, and were 3rd last year (2003-04). They have a history of 14 League Championships, which is third in total to Ajax's 29 and PSV Eindhoven's 17. Their 10 Cup wins is second only to Ajax's 15 wins. The information on the players on this page has been provided for by Han van Eijden, whom I most definately now owe a pint.
