1) Peter Gillatt of SEASIDERS.NET - the biggest Blackpool FC website on the planet! writes

Not sure if you picked up on the recent news keep up the good work Bob (thanks Peter - Bob). OBE for Jimmy Armfield ...

See World of Soccer Stars for the whole story as reported by Peter including an attatched photo of Jimmy that Peter sent. Peter is webmaster of one of the very best Fansites on the web so do go there

2) Don Hall has written to me twice. First off Don writes ...

I grew up near Portland, Oregon and saw Clyde (Best) play many times for the Timbers. I'm in the process of gathering stats and information to build a web site dedicated to the Portland Timbers. I came across your web site while looking for information on Clyde. Just to bring you up to date on Clyde's whereabouts; during my research I found that he's currently coaching Bermuda's National team.

I was wondering if you have information on other players; Clive Charles, Jimmy Kelly and Mike Farebrother? I'm going by my own memory but I've heard these former Timbers' names associated with West Ham. If Farebrother ever played there it was with the reserve team. If you have any information or leads that might be helpful in my research, please let me know.

Thank you. Don Hall

Well thank YOU Don. Anyone know about Clive Charles, Jimmy Kelly and Mike Farebrother? If you do e-mail me and I'll send it on.

Don's next e-mail appears on June 2000's Where are they now ?

K.S. Shamkumar kumar writes on a very positive note which always nice to read ...

Your website has been godsend as I have been a Leeds fan since 1972 and have been hoarding magazines since 1970 (such as goal and shoot). I was so happy to come across your site and will be visiting very often. I particularly enjoyed the defence of the Don in 1970.  May you continue updating your site and keep up your excellent work. I will try to inform others of your site.  Thanks once again.

I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue O.K. I've asked you to write questions to me. That's because I was on an excellent streak of being able to answer them. Then these questions came ...

1) Patty Grenall writes

I see that you have Kevin Keegan's birthdate as 14 Feb 1951. Do you know what his birth time might be?

I try to be as acurate as possible but this one was beyond me ! I guess Patty must be doing a starchart. If Kev's ever mentioned it in an autobiography, or interview ... or if you're Kev's Mum, let me know the answer and I'll pass it on.

2) Jon

Dear Bob, just seen the pic of pele and bobby moore on your website - any idea where i could get a poster of it? cheers, Jon

Actually, no. Anyone else know ?

3) Bren

Evening all   Hi Bob, Nice site you have here. (Thanks - Bob)   I am looking for pictures of Arsene Wenger as a player.   Do they exist? Did he really play football?.  To me he looks more like a university don than a football manager or player and I have great difficulty seeing him as a player.   Don't get me wrong, I am an Arsenal supporter and a great admirer of him and his achievements it is just that I have a very poor imagination.   Any suggestions where I might find some pictures of the great man Bob?.   All the best
----------
Bren

Well yes he did play, and I think for Mutzig, but I still await confirmation of this. If anyone ever finds early pictures of Arsene then DO let me know, and I'll put them up. (I tried writing to you Bren, but the mail came back)

4) Damien asks ...

I am stumped.   Who was the first english player to be capped at all levels?   Please help me   Cheers     Damien

Stumps me too, I'm afraid. Anyone know ? I redirected Damien to Football365 and BBC Online - Football Focus - Ask Albert

1) Nigel Wilson who provides Yorkshire Football Links writes ...

Dads & Sons - What about Bobby Gould (Wolverhampton Wanderers) and his son Jonathan Gould (Celtic goalkeeper)

Jon Gould Celtic

Jonathan Gould

Thanks Nigel, that's the first I'd heard of Jonathan being Bobby's son. Celtic Football Club Home Page is providing the picture

2) Tony Lehain (Jr) ... update from the son of the 'Burnley obsessed' fan referred on the Burnley page ...

As you can gather he's still loves the clarets and has even persuaded his eldest son to support them. We've been to a few games this year, notably Oxford versus Burnley, where with four minutes to go Burnley were trailing one - nil. But then super Ian Wright set up one goal as Burnley scored two in four minutes.

I have now added pictures of the famous sixth form lessons with Tony Lehain

3) Stuart Williamson. I wrote back to Stuart thanking him for his information (below), and he replied ...

Glad to help out. I'm surprised nobody spotted it sooner, but then not everyone remembers Terry Owen. I never thought when I watched Terry play for 4th Div. Bradford City that one day his son become so famous and would play at Valley Parade in a Premiership match. Premier Div? It was light years away in the 60's and early 70's. How times change! Thanks for checking out the facts about T & M Owen.

Best regards, Stuart

- Thanks Stuart.

Jim Ross our US correspondant informs us of the latest whereabouts of Clyde Best ...

I have a 70-71 player update. We went to the Scottish games and the gathering of the clans last Saturday in Costa Mesa, Ca. I'm ALMOST sure I saw ex- West Ham Utd. player Clyde Best waiting for a beer. I do know the Mr. Best does live near there, but I could be wrong.

Cheers Jim . Jim also mentions that Jimmy Armfield who can be voted for in this month's Quizlet - can be heard on the BBC's World Service - I hadn't thought of that , thanks.

Stuart Williamson writes

...Just came across your site.  Well done.  Very enjoyable. (Cheers Stuart - Bob)

http://dspace.dial.pipex.com/bob.dunning/sonsand.htm I noted one omission to the Father/Son or Son/Father list:

Father: Terry Owen (Bradford City + others)

Son: Michael Owen (Liverpool)  ........who??

Best regards,  Stuart

... What a hero you are Stuart thanks VERY much for that information. I added him within the hour of getting your e-mail !!!
