EVENTS THIS ISH:

The move from Super A4 size to ordinary A4 is a bit of a giveaway as to the direction things are heading, though at the time we're preoccupied with keeping out of Sue's way as she has to redesign every single page in the mag to account for the physical loss of width using some really quite phenomenal swearing.

We apologise for the change in the news section. Interestingly, this new, convenient buff-coloured pocket size of the grand old weekly (monthly) paper heralds a RISE in the number of editorial pages; a testament to our POWERFUL WILL-THEWS and bunking advertisers that lasts in UNWEATHERED RECORD right up to the point when Simon The Publisher starts knocking our pages off two months later.

(Interestingly 2, the news section bit mentions that AP's height has varied noticeably over the years - the example given is of AP43 and AP44 differing by 3mm - but this is unintentional printer crapness.)

Reader Millington's first feature is printed (though he's been sending us immense letters for the past couple of months). As with C-Monster a few issues previously, we cleverly forestall any accusations of favouritism by forgetting to employ Mills again until AP57.

I recall the original photo idea for the cover was to use a fish-eye camera lens, so the gun barrel would be poking right out at you, leaving the rest of guest actor Paul The Hardbloke (whom Cam knew through his movie connections, or spotted working as a waiter in a cafe or something by soundtrack-swelling coincidence after Paul had regretfully abandoned his plans to become a famous computer games magazine star) hugely distorted. I think he was supposed to be in a car park, or something, so there'd be a concretey urban background. But obviously we changed our minds.

The fish-eye lens was used for the photo of Cam holding the BB mini-gun. It looked quite poor, with the barrels gently bending and Cam's elbow looking slightly odd. So everything worked out for the best. Then.
