The Lovely Kurt hate mail started just as I joined AP, so it held a particular resonance for me.
Much later, on The Weekly, I introduced Cooee, Loves! - a game hosted by Doris Stokes in which she'd guess which dead person you were thinking of.
(The game is Pangolin, where you have questions with a Yes or No answer ("Do you have a beard?", that sort of thing), branching appropriately through a big list until eventually Doris reaches the end of the line and thus guesses at the mystery person. If Doris is wrong, the player wins and adds that person to Doris's mind along with an identifying question, so it's more difficult for the next player to outwit her.)
It took about six minutes for someone to add Lovely Kurt as a character and he continues to appear in new branches on average once a week. To commemorate the AP days, every question which leads to Lovely Kurt (usually, "Are you the GREATEST SONGWRITER EVER?" or "Did you INSPIRE A GENERATION WITH YOUR LYRICAL POETRY?" or something) is edited to read, "In the garage with the shotgun?"
