Ordinary people - the ones one meets in the shops, the streets, at society meetings - often hide interesting experiences or talents it is not until they die that we hear about them. A number of our society members have given talks on subjects on which they have particular expertise; some of these were Cyril Johnson on Industrial Archaeology, David Moulson on Pewter, Jane Bowen and Richard Churchley on Genealogy, Graham Downie on Fairs, John Ruffell on audio-visual history, John Bunting on shop advertising, and others.

However, there must be much that is untapped; maany interests and expertise held by individual members and others in the community. Would that they would come forth and share their interests and pleasures with the rest of us. If you are not one such but know of people who are, we would love to know about them and we could probably overcome their shyness and persuade them to share their expertise with the rest of us. (A society talk, an article in 'Local Past’, an Occasional Paper - who knows?)
